Message from PTO/Dress code on our Team Google Classroom

Hello Bumponians,
We are excited that the Color Run is ON for Friday, 9/28!  I hope everyone is ready and excited.  Just a few reminders.  The t-shirts for the runners will come home on TODAY.  They are to be worn Friday.  See the Color Run dress code for approved shorts (attached).  The race will begin at 1:30 pm but we will begin marking the route by 12:30 pm.
Remember there are no check-outs between 1p-3p.  The kids will be outside and on the roads.  There will be limited access to the school because of the run.  Please plan accordingly and check-out prior to 1pmif necessary.
For the run, the students will receive a t-shirt and color packets along with any extras ordered.  We encourage the students to bring sunglasses to wear, even just a cheap pair to keep the dust from flying in their eyes.  They can also wear a bandanna or hat if they want to decrease the color in their hair.
A reminder for carpool parents.  We encourage you to have a towel for your child(ren) to sit on to limit the color in your car.  Carpool will stop at the top of Flemming Parkway until all students are back in the designated area.  Please wait for our SRO to move the cones before you come down to the carpool lanes.
Thank you again for all of your help with this fundraiser.  This fundraiser could not be accomplished without the great support of our parents, staff and community.
If you have any questions or if we may be of assistance to you please contact us at kristymglover@gmail.com or tphancock@hotmail.com or jillandchad@mac.com (Color Run committee members).

Thanks for all you do! Go BUCS!!!!

2018-19 COLOR Run General Info

● Students must have the COLOR RUN orange wristband on at all times and have it visible in order to wear running/athletic attire (guidelines for the Color Run Dress code will be shared with all students).

● Check-outs will be difficult so if you know your parents are going to check you out on Friday, parents MUST them check students out prior to the run….before 1:00.

 ● If your parents are coming to watch the run, they can park at The Met and either walk to a spot along the route or catch at bus at 12:45 - 1:00pm from The Met to Bumpus. The bus will return to The Met at 3:00.

● Students will NOT bring backpacks to school on the day of the Color Run. Students can bring a clear water bottle and cellphone in a small bag to school but they cannot use the cellphone during the color run. The color (cornstarch), water and potential for damage from a drop is too high. Students will take his/her belongs to the assigned field BEFORE the color run - Students WILL NOT go back in the building during or after the Color Run. The only exception is that we will have one restroom available during and after the Color Run (the restroom by the cafeteria).  WE HAVE SUGGESTED TO OUR TEAM 6-1 STUDENTS TO NOT BRING THEIR CELLPHONES ON COLOR RUN DAY!  WE WILL PROVIDE WATER BOTTLES ON TEAM 6-1 AS A RESULT OF OUR GRACIOUS TEAM 6-1 PARENTS!

 ● Teachers will have a map of the Color Run route. Non-participants will be stationed along the route to cheer on participants. The only exception are students that cannot participate due to medical reasons - these students will remain in the media center.

● We will have 2 nurses on duty during the Color Run.

● Color packets cannot be opened inside in the building before going outside. ● All color packets must be used.

 ● Do not forcefully throw powder at people's faces or on people who do not have on a Color Run or plain white t-shirt….it means they chose NOT to participate.

● It’s not a RACE….it’s a run or walk but keep it moving.

● Do NOT stop at color stations….keep it moving.

 ● If you don’t want color then run/walk around that color station.

 ● After the run, stay in the designated student area on the assigned fields.

● EVERYONE will need to pick up trash before we leave.

● If you ride carpool, you may want to have your parents cover their car seats.

Language Arts...Message from Mrs. Etheredge.....
We will begin reading Schooled on Monday 10/02. If you chose to order a copy from our library, they are here and can be purchased with cash for $6.00. We are working on getting it on MySchoolFees, but as of right now it is not up there. I'll keep you posted on that. If you chose to find it on your own, I would suggest calling 2nd and Charles first to see if they have any used copies, then Barnes and Nobles, and Amazon has copies as well. Please let me know if you are having a hard time purchasing the book for your student and we will work with you. Thanks!

Team Update 09/17/2018

COLOR RUN will be September 28th!
Congratulations to Team 6-1!  We are 100% PARTICIPATION!
Thank you so much for supporting Bumpus Middle School!

Students WILL NOT be allowed to bring their backpacks to school that day.
We have suggested if they are bringing their lunch to pack it in a sack that
day so they will not have to keep up with a lunch box!
We have also strongly encouraged them NOT to bring CELL PHONES that day.
We will be collecting them and they will not have access to them until they go home.
We do not want them to get lost, broken, or colored!
Good idea just to keep them at home.  We will be taking plenty of pictures and sharing
them with you!  Great idea to wear bright colored socks and a fun headband or
bandanna for that day! Good idea to have DAWN dish washing detergent at home
in case the color is a little tough to get off your skin!

We will be having a kickball SIXTH GRADE tournament that day!
We will have a sign up genius asking for small waters for the day so
students won't have to have water bottles during the day!  We will ice
them down and have them available. Thanks
in advance for your generosity!

**The whole week of September of September 24-28 is spirit week
with fun dress up days.
Check out the blog for all the information, tips and suggestions.

EVERY DAY.....EVERY DAY...EVERY DAY...
Students need a CHARGED chromebook and a pair of EARBUDS!
It's important for all of their classes!!!!

AGENDAS....EVERY DAY!
It is your child's responsibility to be writing in their agenda for EVERY class EVERY day!
Please note there should NEVER be an empty spot/space for any class!
The online agenda is subject to change and should only be used as a back up
or if a child is absent. Ask to see your child's agenda periodically to make
sure they are doing their JOB. Also the agenda has lots of awesome information in it!
We took up the five agenda sheets the student's were to write their homework
in before agendas were delivered and will be having some "chats" with those students
who have not be following the rules!  Setting patterns in the beginning of the year
will set them up for success! We want that for each student on Team 6-1!
Thank you for partnering with us in ensuring this!

PEP RALLY on Thursday, September 27th will be a GLOW ONE!
Students should wear all BLACK since it is BLACK OUT SIMMONS.
Accessories that glow will be awesome for the PEP RALLY.

Dollar Store, Party City and Hobby Lobby great places to find some
inexpensive items for your child!  GO BUCS.
Sixth Grade wants to win the spirit stick this time!
